Trade Ethereum to Bitcoin using MetaMask

How to trade Ethereum (ETH) to Bitcoin (BTC) using MetaMask on our cross-chain DEX.

Trade Ethereum to Bitcoin using MetaMask

1) Navigate to the depouch website and Connect Wallet

  • Go to depouch
  • Click Connect Wallet - The button is found in the upper-right corner.
  • Select Ethereum - Choose Ethereum as the blockchain you want to Send From.
  • Click MetaMask to connect your wallet.

Your MetaMask wallet should now be connected.

2) Prepare the trade

  • Select the swap pair - Choose Ethereum (ETH) on the Ethereum network as the cryptocurrency you want to send and Bitcoin (BTC) as the cryptocurrency you want to receive.

You can always search for these cryptocurrencies in the search bar in the Select Crypto popup.

3) Enter Swap Details

  • Enter the amount of Ethereum - Input the amount of ETH you wish to swap. In this example it’s 0.0025 ETH (around $11)
  • Paste in your Bitcoin destination address - This is the address where you will receive your Bitcoin.

4) Review and Confirm the Swap

Review the swap details - Check all the information displayed.

Note slippage - Be aware that for smaller trading amounts, the slippage might be high due to outbound fees. For higher trading amounts, the slippage would be significantly lower. For example, swapping $8.75 worth of USDT could result in 26% slippage due to a $1.8 outbound fee.
  • Click Confirm Swap
  • Confirm in MetaMask - MetaMask will pop-up then just click Confirm to approve the transaction.

Now you can just close the MetaMask extension.
5) Track the Transaction (Swap)

Wait for transaction - The transaction will now be submitted to the Ethereum blockchain, and once on-chain you will see the swap under Transactions.

Wait for completion - Once the transaction is done the status will update from Swapping to Completed. Swap times can vary, from a few seconds to several hours, but for this ETH to BTC example it compledted after a few seconds.

6) Verify Receipt of Bitcoin

  • Check your Bitcoin Destination Address wallet
  • Alternatively you can check a block explorer - Once the swap is completed, you can use a blockchain explorer to verify that your Bitcoin address has indeed received the Bitcoin.

And that's it!
